Question

growths
QUESTION: I have what I believe to be a Thuja trees (approximately 30) that some have recently developed the pictured growths. I have had and gotten rid of bag worms before but these don't really seem to have any insects in them. They are just pulpy growths. What are they and how can I get rid of them.

ANSWER: Hi Brad that is natural and means the tree is happy and growing.  kathy

QUESTION: Will these always be there or are they cyclical? They are just unsightly.

Answer
Hi Brad, I believe this information will help...http://ag.arizona.edu/pima/gardening/aridplants/Platycladus_orientalis.html  Now your thuja has a name and you can see the cones.  kathy  They will fall off and then they will appear again next year. I guess you could cut them off but seems like a lot of work.
