QuestionThe leaves on my water oak are starting off with brown circular spots, some directly in the middle of the leaf while others are on the outer fringes of leaf. Recently the leaves of the entire tree turned brown starting from the top and working their way towards the bottom. This occurred within 3 days. The outer branches of the tree are brown when snapped in half, but the truck is green when I scrape it. I live in Slidell, Louisiana
AnswerVincent:
Difficult to say with out seeing the tree in person. I'd start by checking the trunk and looking for any evidence of loose bark or other obvious damage to it. If this is a newly planted tree, it may be having some difficulty with adjusting. It may be best to give the folks a call at your local Agricultural Extension office and request a house call to see it. There should be an office in each Parrish. Or you can also visit with someone at your local garden center/nursery.
