Rosemary and Thyme disease

Question
Hi Dr Vann,

I have a question regarding a disease on a few of my plants.  All 3 plants are sharing a large "window planter box" and each of them are developing the same symptoms.  The plants are a creeping thyme, creeping rosemary and a third which I don't know the name of.  Each of the plants started out vibrant and deep green when planted 6 months ago.  The plants are now getting a white-ish look, almost tie-dye look, to the foliage....one could think it looks moldy, however, there isn't a film on the plant, it's the actual leaves which are changing color, becoming dual and white-is looking.  Lastly, i recently noticed a small infestation of little ants.  The weather has been quite hot here so I assumed the ants were seeking water.  I don't think that is the only reason the ants are there, they are crawling all over the thyme and in the soil.

Any suggestions for both the ant problem and the "mildewy" appearance to my plants ?

Thanks !
Kele

Answer
Kele:
Your spices may have an insect on them that is attracting the ants. Can you send a closeup photo of one of the affected portions? Try to get as close as you can and be sure to review your image on your computer before sending to be sure the image is in focus.

Thanks
Steve
