QuestionQUESTION: We live in the east on Long island, New York and have four Norway maple tress in our yard that are about 20-25 feet tall. About two weeks ago we noticed leaves falling and on the backs of them are elongated white "wooly" looking objects. What is happening and what can we do to save these trees? Thank you.
ANSWER: Carol:
Can you send a photo of a few of the affected leaves? Be sure your photo is in focus before you send. I'll have a look to see if I can ID.
Thanks

QUESTION: Steve: Sorry, but I can't seem to get that photo to you through that web site. Thank you anyway for your attention to this matter. Carol
AnswerHi Carol:
If you care to, try to describe these wooly things and I'll give it a shot to ID. Please let me know the size and shape, consistency etc. Are they on the leaves or twigs?
You also have a couple of other options. (1) I can give you my personal email address so you can try attaching a photo or (2) snip off some of these objects and carry to your local garden center or nursery and get their opinion on the ID.
Please let me know how you wish to proceed>
Thanks
Steve
