QuestionHi. A question from southern Ontario Canada. We have two rows of large white Birch on both sides of our driveway. Nine tree's aside. They are currently infested with caterpillars of some sort. There are no tents but we see and here them feeding on the leaves. They are stripping the leaves almost clean. Herd of a pour on insectiside for pouring around the tree trunk in the spring. Is it too late for this or what sort of treatment would you suggest?
AnswerBrian:
The pour on product will probably do better if applied in the spring. Check in with your local garden center or nursery to be sure. Many times there are plenty of insect predators that keep the bad guys under control. Also, many of these trees often releaf after the caterpillars complete their life cycle.
