QuestionI recently purchase 3 dwarf crape myrtles. They were doing great for about 3 weeks. Now their leaves are turning red and yellow. They are droopy and all the flowers look as though they have been burned. I have noticed thousands of tiny mushrooms in the ground around one of them...the funny part is that this one is doing better than the other two. Am I over watering? I water every other day. I give them plenty of water being that I have to deal with Texas summers. I have not noticed any bugs on the leaves. The leaves are intact and have no holes in them. I used root accelerator when I first planted them. The other 7 crapes that I purchased are doing just fine. I planted them all the same way. Please help.
AnswerHi Pam, Mushrooms mean the ground is breaking down and composting. The one that is sagging and looks burned may be getting too much water. Black on leaves too much water and yellow leaves falling off a lot or quickly means not enough water. Make sure you water past your plants and not always on top so the roots grow to the water. About 3 x week for one month than a deep watering once a week. Thats how we do it in FLorida and we are hot here too. kathy
