Questionlast year the top of my honey ash started to die and was then covered with a web. this year it came back only to start doing the same thing without the web so far. We notice that the birds are eating something on the dead part of the tree. Is there anything we can do to save the tree?
AnswerLillian:
If the same area is affected this year, then this may be evidence of some level of internal decay that is usually a progressive decline. Could these sections have been broken out by wind or ice? A house call may be appropriate to see the tree in person. Consider contacting your local county Agricultural Extension office to arrange for a visit. You may also contact soemone at tyour local nursery/garden center about having someone come out to your home to see the tree. often with these problems, just keeping it watered and fertilized to promote good vigorous growth is best.
