QuestionLive in midwest. Planted butterfly bush maybe 6 - 8 weeks ago. Planted with osmocote. Up until yesterday, was growing beautifly. Looks like a colony of "something" or "somethings" has feasted on the leaves. Holes in almost all the leaves now. Prior to yesterday, last "saw" butterfly bush 3 days before. Looked perfectly healthy. Was out of town 3 days. Yesterday looked holely & dying. It just bloomed it's first purple color. HELP PLEASE!!! I've waited 3 years for this bush, I can't let it down!!!
AnswerHi Marcie, You should never put fertilizer in a hole with a just planted plant. You spread over the top after a month of it being in the ground. You want your roots to grow to take hold then add fertilizer so the top will grow and bloom. It could be snails, slugs or grasshoppers eating the plant. I would try a product called Atomic Grow to bring your plant back to health so the bugs stay away. kathy
