QuestionQUESTION: I have a southern magnolia tree %26 virtually the biggest part of the leaves look dead, there are a few that are still green but this tree has always had beautiful green leaves until this year, is there anything I can do to save my tree? Anything I can spray or put into the soil?
ANSWER: Paula:
Some inner leaf drop is normal. Excessive isn't. Check the lower trunk for loose or damage bark. Check the area for any recent digging around the roots. If you have had excessive rainfall and the tree is in clay soils, then the roots may have got stressed.

QUESTION: Is there any kind of spray or any type of fertilizer I should use on it?
AnswerPaula:
You can try a general granular tree fertilizer. Just check in with your local garden center/nursery about types and brands. If you live in the U.S., you can contact your local Agricultural county Extension office in your county. These folks are a wealth of information- lots of it free too! Every county has one and someone may be able to actually come out and see your tree.
