QuestionHi, I just bought two new roebellini plants for my patio and noticed within a week that one had small round pebble-like eggs on top of the soil. I picked one up and it was hard..i thought it was a small stone or pebble, but when I squeezed it--it burst. A mucous-like yellowish substance squirted out. Is my plant infested? Are these eggs of some sort waiting to hatch? Should I throw away both plants? Please help! Thanks!

I do not suspect insect or disease related. Could this have been a bird's egg? I suspect that it may have been "left" there since it was on the surface. I do not think that whatever this was that it will be harmful to your plant. If you see others, consider taking a photo of it and sending it along. If possible, lay a common object like a coil beside it so I can have an idea of the size. Just keep an eye on your patio plants for any signs of decline, but I don't think you have anything to worry about at this point.
Enjoy the spring, it is Nature's way of starting over again.
