QuestionI saw your answer to another question on this. I have two holly bushes and they seem to have black leaves, spider webs and lots of whitish maggot-like things on them (about 1/2 inch long) on them. I sprayed them with a jet from a hose and that took off some of the black stuff and all the webs. If this is an insect infestation, what type of insecticide should I get?

One insecticide choice to consider is Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insect Control. It is applied to the soil after being mixed w/water (see directions)and taken up by roots. I would suggest that you carry in a twig or two to your local garden center to be sure you are dealing with an insect first- cause this chemical is expensive, but easy to use.
