QuestionLast year I paid TruGreen and they treated my dwarf Aspin Pines for mites and a "deep feeding". How can I treat my Aspin Pines for mites and what is the procedure for deep feeding. Thank you; Sam
AnswerSpider mites are controlled using a miticide which is different than an insecticide. There is a product that will control several insects and mites. It is called Bayer Advanced 3 in 1 Insect Disease and Mite control.
Here is a web link to more information on this product. or you can check with your local nursery for a miticide to use on trees. http://www.bayeradvanced.com/tree-shrub-care/products/3-in-1-insect-disease-mite...
Water with 1 inch of water--place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. Do this weekly IF it does not rain. IF you have not done so mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inch deep of organic mulch not piled up on the trunk this will help hold moisture around the trees roots.
I would fertilize with 10-10-10 fertilizer at the rate of 1 lb per inch of trunk diameter scattered around the tree and watered in good. This is as good a trying to inject the fertilizer in the soil around the tree.
