QuestionI planted two Young Japanese Maples about 5 to 6 feet tall ,about two weeks ago. One is doing well, the others leaves look wilted , like dried out leaves. I mixed peat moss and topsoil into the hole before I planted them and mixed in a small amount of the surrounding dirt also. They both get morning shade till about noon then it is direct light the rest of the day. I planted them about 15 to 20 feet apart. I have watered them daily , I don't know what I've done wrong.Should I move the tree somewhere else, will it kill it if I do? Do I need to put some miracle grow fertilizer on them? I don't see any bugs on the leaves,I hope I can save this tree, it was a gift. Any ideas? Sincerely Della Laynes
AnswerHi Della, Japanese maples love shade. They should be planted in no more than early morning sun and let them go into shade or as an understory tree. They may have been in more shade where you purchased them. Also, miracle grow is full of salt and chlorine which burns your plants. Check it out on miracle grow problems on your net... kathy
