QuestionHi,
I have four miniature fruit trees(lemon, lime, orange, tangerine) that I purchased through the mail 3 yrs ago.
Last fall when I brought them inside for the winter two of them began "sweating a sticky sweet substance on the leaves...it is now apparent one is dying the other seems to be covered in this substance and a third has a few leaves beginning to ooze as well.
I don't know what to do. Only one plant has ever flowered...and none have produced fruit. What is it and what can I do??
Thanks,
J
AnswerHi joyce, Your citrus trees have aphids which is causing what is called sooty mold. You need to get an insecticidal spray and treat your plants. Now that they are sick you may want to try out and organic product called Atomic Grow which will help bring your plant back to health, and is totally safe as it is made from food, potatoes, cactus, corn and soy. The product raises the brix in the plant and cleans it helps to restore the health of the plants. You will see increased blooms, sweeter fruit, and bugs will go elsewhere as they like sick trees. kathy
