QuestionI purchased a "Mine-No-Yuki" Camellia last spring. For 2009, my area (Zone 7B, central Arkansas) had over 30+ inches of rain above normal. My plant has irregular brown & black spots with grayish centers on the leaves. Is this a fungus caused by all of the extraordinary amount of rain that we have had this past year ??? What will I need to treat with ?? Thank you, Phyl C.

Thanks for your question. I do not recognize the spots that you describe as an infectious disease. These spots may be a result of some environmental stress. If you don't ahave many leaves that are spotted, try just removing those leaves and discarding. Since you are from Arkansas (as I am also), contact the Extension office in your county and arrange to carry them a couple of spotted leaves for them to look at and identify. If you need help with a phone number for your county Extension office, let me know and I will find it. OR, you can take a closeup photo and send to me at my email address in Little Rock---
