QuestionHi,
We have a beautiful Nashi tree which we planted 3 years ago. The pears are in plentiful supply and look perfect, however the centre (core)is rotting on most of the pears. This is happening straight from being picked from the tree. If you have a solution for this, we would appreciated it.
Many thanks
Dave
AnswerDave:
Examine the fruit closely. Look for any small entrance holes on the "skin" of the fruit and also check for any worms in the dark area within. This may be a boring insect. I am not aware of any type of infectious plant disease that may be doing this. You may wish to collect a few fruit and carry by your local nursery/garden centre for their diagnosis. If it is an insect, there are several appropriate insecticides that can be applied to the tree to protect the fruit from attack.
