QuestionI gave a large pamelo tree about 10 years old and bears very large pamelo averaging 5 lbs.(pink inside).the specie that is sold commercially.
This year the tree is having a large crop; however, I notice that the bark around a few branches were being eaten or eroding all the way leaving the branches bare without bark and causing the branch forward to the tips of the branch to dry-up and die.. I sprayed Diazinon but that did not help and the Disease kept spreading to other branches,, I just recently sprayed all the exposed and disease branches with Daconil. Then the entire tree. Don't know as yet if this will do the job.
Appreciate your advising me on the name of the Disease and the proper treatment to rid the tree of whatever. Its been a pleasure having the tree and all my friends look forward to them

AnswerHoward:
Thanks for your question. From your description of the bare branches, there could be an infectious disease that may cause a dieback of the branches. These symptoms usually start at the tips and progress toward the main stem. For these issues, the best management practice is to selectively prune out the infected portions and discard those prunings. No fungicides good enough to penetrate wood and kill the organisms within- just best to remove the declining portions.
Not sure about an insect involvement. If you wish, take a closeup photo of one of these branches and send to me. Select the area where "green/healthy" wood meets the brown/dying portion. Review your image on your computer to be sure it is in focus before you send.
Thanks
