QuestionI live in Southern California and I have an 2 ornamental plum trees that I planted last spring. Both trees appear to be healthy, but neither one has lost any of its leaves. Does this mean the trees won't flower this season? Is there anything I should be doing differently so they will flower?
AnswerJessica:
This phenomena may be related to the environment or a function of variety. If the tree looks good otherwise, I don't think a disease or insect may be causing this to happen. Your question may be a good one for your local nursery/garden center. These folks should be familiar enough with the variety to know about this happening. Select a garden center/nursery rather than the garden portion of the larger box stores. Many times the local folks have a better, yet specific knowledge on these types of questions.
