QuestionI have had a sago palm in my front yard for about 10 years. Never had a problem until now. The crown (round middle portion of sago) I have noticed is opening and I can see what looks like orangish (almost looking like mickey mouse padded gloves)inside and a few of the branches are starting to turn a little yellow. I'm not sure this has anything to do with what is happening to the crown. Neither am I sure what is happening to the crown. Is there something wrong, and if there is can it be saved?
Thank you
AnswerHi Stephanie:
Sounds like you are from warmer climates than Arkansas right now- it is about 35 here now. From your description, this may be the onset of a flower forming. Can you send a photo? Be sure to review your image on your computer first- to be sure it is in focus. The yellowing of the leaves may indicate a nutritional imbalance. Try to include a few of these leaves in your image.
Thanks
Steve
