Cleveland Pear Disease/bugs

Question
Hello,
I am following up with another question regarding the answer
given to a Floridian's question about Cleveland Pears and potential fungus.
I planted 12 pears approximately two years ago in northwestern Illinois. I have watched 8 of the trees grow to a 3-4 diameter trunk while the other 4 have narrow trunks. As I examined closer I noticed the trunks have been eaten with trench to almost core depth..I immediately purchased a spray coating used for limb removals to try to immediately stop the spead of "whatever".  You spoke about "trench" as a possible fungus problem. If I might also have this problem, does it attack the tree and evenutually kill? I will contact my agricultural office, but thought I would tap into the earlier email I saw on this site.
Thanks in advance.
Ron

Answer
Hi Ronald, I asked another expert this question as I do not believe I answered it as I never head of trench.  This is what he wrote me.  By raising the sap sugars in the leaf phloem and xylem the insects and pathogens can be controlled.  Atomic Grow is the only affordable product on the market that will do this.  Insecticides and oils will only weaken the plant and prolong the problems.  Regardless of what is occuring the trees defense mechanisms are not effective and need a boost.  Atomic Grow will fix these problems and save the trees.  kathy
