crapemyrtle bark has bumps and is oozing

Question
Can you identify the problem?

Answer
Margaret:

Can you send a closeup photo of these bumps with the ooze?  An ooze on fruit trees is often a sign of a boring insect.  I haven't seen this on crapemyrtle.

There is another condition that can be seen on trees called slime flux or bacterial wetwood where a ooze occurs.  It has a fermenting smell and often attracts insects like bees and wasps. I haven't seen this on crapemyrtle either.  A photo may be helpful.  Be sure to review the image on your computer before sending- this will help insure it is in focus.

Regards
Steve
