QuestionJim
I am looking for an illustrated book that would ease the identification of forest tree diseases and pests, particularly in the western U.S. I would like to be able to identify as many diseases as possible in roots, stems, crowns, and leaves while cruising the forests.
Is there such a book? Amazon disappoints.
Thanks.
Pete
AnswerThe best book that will describe almost all the diseases of trees in the US Is called "Diseases of trees and shrubs" by Sinclair http://www.cornellpress.cornell.edu/book/?GCOI=80140100028970
It is a little pricy but worth it. Once you determine the disease the tree has you can Google the disease and find the treatment. There is not really a good all around book on treatments. Mainly since the treatments can change over years and the book would be out dated. I hope this helps.
