My plants have a white sticky substance on some of the ferns. This is the first year we got any produce from them.  Please can you help us?

Can you send a closeup photo of this stuff on the leaves? It may help me to see it.  It may be a bug.  Be sure that you review your photo on your computer before you attach- to be sure it is in focus. Try to get as close as you can to the white stuff on the leaves.
