QuestionHi my pomegranate tree is about 4yrs. old and it beared a few fruit that was not edible. Now with fruit still on the tree. half of the tree is turning. yellow and the other half is green.please what should I do? Joyce
AnswerJoyce:
First, I'd look around at the tree for any evidence of injury/damage to the trunk, especially around the base for bark damages. Also check for any root injury (excavations etc. that might cut the roots). If you don't see any damages, you might want to consider a soil test to determine if there is a nutritional imbalance. You can contact your local county Cooperative Extension office for help on doing this. Also, these folks may be willing to come out to your landscape for a tree visit and give you some advise. From your description, I would be inclined to focus on a potential root/soil related stress rather than a bona fide infectious disease.
Hope this helps. Seeing the tree can often key in on the problem.
