QuestionTwo years ago I planted a large 36 inch boxed triple trunk King palm in my yard in coastal southern California.
About 6 months ago the smallest of the three trunks began to shrink in the middle until it got very small and died.
Now, the second trunk of three is starting to do the same thing... all the leaves are starting to brown except the brand new shoots coming out. There is no visible damage or discoloration to the trunk exterior. Is this some sort of root rot problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
AnswerChris:
This might be a root rot that has slowly developed or possibly insects that may have moved in. You might try carefully removing the dead portions w/o damaging the "healthy" portions- then just be watchful and give it plenty of TLC with appropriate water w/o excesses.
