QuestionMy hibiscus was covered with buds but a cottony web-like coating developed at buds' bases with some kind of white/brown scales. The buds will not open - seems like the juice is being sucked out of each bud and the leaves around the buds are very crinkly. I cut off all offending looking limbs and all buds. What can I treat bush with now?
AnswerHi Nancy, Realized that after I sent the message to you that I hit the wrong button. So my answer stands that your hibiscus has mealy bugs and maybe a new strain out called the pink mealy bug that is attacking hibiscus. Atomic Grow has helped mine become healthy again and bloom their spectacular blooms. Mealy bugs will suck the juice out of the plants and stop the bud from opening and eventually kill your plant. Or it will become ugly and you will rip it out. Kathy
