Questioni was told to use Volck oil spray and malathion to kill the white scales disease on my sago palm is this true and also what amount of each do I use and how often,
thanks
Theresa
AnswerTheresa:
Both of these products can be used for the scale insects. Test them on a small portion (leaf or two) of the sago- to be sure that no injury results after 3-5 days after applying at the concentration given on the container label. Keep in mind that more than 1 application may be required. READ the label completely before mixing and applying.
NOTE: CAUTION: Some oils can ONLY be used during the dormant season (colder temperatures) otherwise they will injure the plant if temperatures are warmer (about 80+ degrees)when they are applied. Check with your garden center professional or nursery for the correct oil to use in your temperatures.
