Question1 have a cleveland pear tree, that the leaves are dead, don't know what to do with it, last year it was just beatiful, when 1 break the small limbs , they break right off. will it come back next year thanks
AnswerNorma:
In my area many of the ornamental pears look like they are getting into the fall-- purple/red leaves over most of the tree and some leaf drop ocurring. If this describes your situation, we have not been able to find a disease, rather we think it is maybe a root stress of sorts. If you have branches that are turning black/dark brown starting at the tips and if those affected branches are scattered in the tree- it may be fire blight- a bacterial disease. If possible prune these branches out. If you have a chance let me know if either of these symptoms match your tree.
