QuestionI have 7 Chantilcleer Pear trees that each year blossom beautifully in the spring with lots of new growth, but then in late June develop a fungus of some type that spots the leaves with red blotches. This has been happening for the past 3 years. I have tried spraying the trees with a Copper Spray administered by a hose type sprayer, but it really hasn't solved the problem. Can you suggest a solution. Adjacent to the pear trees is a neighbours very old and dying (literally rotting from the inside out) apple tree. Could this be part of the problem?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

AnswerCandice:
I don't think the neighbors tree is a factor. Can you send me a photo as an email attachment of a closeup of 3-4 with these blotches--I'm drawing a blank this morning (maybe it is the coffee!). Here in my part of the world fire blight is the biggest disease problem. It would help to see some of these leaves OR you can carry a few leaves into your local county Extension office- usually in the courthouse building. Someone should be able to ID.
Let me know what you would like to do.
