QuestionHi Kathy, since my last question my brown-spotted aloe has been doing relatively better (I folowed your advice and stopped watering it until a few days ago - and then very little - the soild feels very dry now). The growing bits in the centre still have reddish tips and spikes; moreover, the plant seems to be sprouting shoots from the base(very small still, but I suppose that can't be bad!). My questions are: 1. how best to water it (a little every few days, or drench it, wait for the soil to drain and then leave it until it dries again?)
2. I've just spotted roots coming out of the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot - does this mean it needs re-potting? Would that be advisable, in its present state (red-tipped, with potential new shoots/pups)
3. Should I worry about the red tips? I've read they could be due to either watering (which hasn't happened a lot lately) or excessive light (not really the case)
Many thanks again,
Ann
AnswerHi Ann, Glad to hear your aloe is coming along nicely now. I would water maybe every two weeks almost hardly ever next to never. Let it dry out good. Pretend you are at the desert waiting for rain and be the rain. Hope that makes sense to you. Not sure but maybe the red on the tips means it is having babies.... I do not think you have to rush in re-potting at this time. The roots are just starting to come out which means it is growing again and becoming happy with your care. kathy
