QuestionMy Crete Myrtle tree is 10 years old, and last year it never really bloomed, nor did it have green leaves. I had it pruned last Fall (about 1/3) and this year again, it's green leaves have turned brown. It looks dead. I live in Sacramento, CA. It is planed in the lawn of the yard and it has never appeared to have any bugs. Every year up until last year it always bloomed beautifully. Should I remove the tree? If not, how can I treat it?
AnswerMaybe you used a new lawn fertilizer that affected the tree too. If it is planted in the lawn. I would cut one of the limbs back and see if you are getting any green life in the stems. If everything is brittle and breaks off then keep trimming until you get to the part that is living. I dont feel that this is pathogen related. It seems like a classic case of over fertilizing or a watering issue.
Sincerely
James
