QuestionI was Cutting some branchs off of a Pole Pine when I notied this yellow branch like thing. At first I thought it might have been the tree growing more brnches but I noticed that they where in a weird shape (almost coral like) and they where everywhere (as in on a majority of the trees I owen.) Should I be worried? OH I also Found a beetle (it was dead) Could it be coming from them? What should I do???
AnswerThe yellow, coral-like things you are seeing could be the reproductive structures of the tree if they occur on the tips of your branches... if they are located elsewhere they could be fruiting bodies of a fungus and if you see them all over your tree. This can be caused by very moist, humid conditions as well as wood decay. Are your needles still green and healthy looking? Do you notice any decline in the growth of these trees?
