Question
My aloe
Dear Kathy,
I would be very grateful for some advice. My aloe vera plant doesn't look very healthy - it has brown-reddish spots on leaves (tops and in the middle). The parts affected look mushy at first and then crinkle and dry up. The plant is relatively recently potted - so it hasn't any shoots that could be grown separately. There is a little green top which seems to be growing in the centre, but even that appears to develop a reddish tip. I've tried feeding it - and I'm not sure whether I should try re-potting it - it seems feeble enough as it is. I would very much like to be able to save this plant - it has sentimental value!
Thank you very much in advance!
AnswerHi Ann, your plant soil looks wet. Aloe is a cactus and can get by on very little water. Maybe a little water every two weeks. It could also be shocked from transplant so be patient and stop watering and I think you will see new leaves come up happy. kathy
