QuestionJames I planted arborvitae around a patio. My Mother in law said I should not of because they attract mosquitoes. Is there any truth to that. Do arborvitae attract them more than other solid screens If so what can I do to repel
Thank you

AnswerHello
Your mother-in-laws tree was probably metabolically unbalanced and this would attract all insects.
Arborvitae are no different than any other plant or tree. They need fertilizer and proper care too. They are magnificent when they are healthy.
When a plant or tree is sick, the first thing you will notice is insects.
Plant your Arborvitae and take good care of it. It will provide lots of shade and privacy for many years to come.
