Question

Jasmine disease   QUESTION: I have one 5 feet tall Arabian Jasmine and 3 regular jasmines. All of them have same kind problem: a lot of dry leaves, small yellow spot around the edges of the leaves (photo is attached) at beginning, then became big yellow spots. Especially the Arabian jasmine, the leaves 95% are gone and barely alive. I have tried ever thing I could, such as give them plant food, spray insect killer, washing the leaves, etc. But I don抰 see any improvement. What is wrong with my plants, please help my jasmines alive.

ANSWER: Hi Bingbing, are you keeping it too wet?  It is still winter and things do not grow as quick.  Do you have a dish under your pot, if so you need to empty the water out after 15 minutes or rot your plant.  If you have done all the above, you may have to wait a little to see some improvements.  Hopefully you are giving it a good plant food not jobe spikes.  kathy

QUESTION: Hi, Kathy: Thank you very much for the replay my question. By looking at the leaves of my posted picture of my jasmine, do you think it is not some kind disease? I tried to watering them in the sink so that the water will drain out, and the dishes under the plants are dry. But I am in Chicago, in winter is pretty hard to maintain my tropical plants in good condition, the air conditioning is always on that makes upper part of the pot dry fast, but in the lower part of the plants take long time to dry厖if that is the case, I will take more careful care for my plants. Hi Bingbing, You may try a grow light when it is in the house.  I would use Pure Neem Oil by Dyna Gro to protect your plants.  It is organic and does not wash off.  I do not know what you used before.  Not sure what it is but if it is a fungus Neem will also take care of that.  You will notice that a product works when the new leaves come out and they are clear of the problem.  kathy
