Question
We have a euonymous that has a problem with scale on a grand scale!  I spray every spring for this stuff and it keeps coming back, this year, however, it is horrid.  I use dormant oil spray which is what our nurseryman told me to use but it doesn't seem to kill the scale off.  This is the third year I'm battling this stuff and wondered if you have any suggestions to use on it.  Any information you can give me would be very helpful.  Thank you.

Scales suck the plant juices from the plant and since they are under a shell they can be difficult to control. I would use a systemic insecticide that is applied to the soil and the roots take the insecticide into the plant juices and when the scale sucks the juices they are killed. One of these is Bayer Advanced Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate. Check with your local nursery/garden type store for this product.
