QuestionI live in Key West and have a Key Lime tree around 5 feet tall. The tree gets irrigation from a sprinkler system 10-15 minutes every other day. I have noticed that recently leaves are dropping off of the tree. Do Key Limes drop leaves during the year? Also, some of the leaves are curling, is this a problem?
AnswerHi Steven, Your Key Lime is probably loosing inner leaves right now to make room for flowers and fruit. The curling leaves are probably the leaf minor that is on all citrus in FL. If you look under the leaf it will look like a railroad track design. I use pure Neem Oil from Dyna Grow, which is organic. It will not keep the leaf minor away but may slow down it production, and keep other problems away, as it does not wash off. The bug goes to sleep in the winter and when it gets warm they come out again. kathy
