QuestionWe live in Spain and have a very mature Fig Tree. After the fruit was picked. I have noticed it has an infestation of some kind of larvae, which have made holes in the trunk and branches. Could you please advise if there is anything I can do to save the tree,, other than remove it.
AnswerHi Alexandra... As I do not know the pests you have in Spain two things come to mind. You fig may be getting old or somehow it got hurt and the bugs moved in. Being organic I would take a sewing needle and poke it into the holes times as this should kill the bug. You do not want to put a systemic on it as it will eventually go into your fruit. I have done this with peach trees and it works.
