QuestionAbove was on the tag that came with the plant which I have had for approx. 4 months. Planted in large pot, shade in a.m., full sun in afternoon. Some leaves have what appears to be black specks of sand, perfectly round, on them, easily brushed off, usually on the upper sides of the leaves. Other leaves have what looks to be a white powder on the undersides. These are easily washed off. I live in West Palm Beach Florida. Thanks for your help.
AnswerHi Mickey, I would just spray with an insecticidal spray, I would use Neem OIl spray which is organic that is what I use, or go to your local nursery and ask what they have for a spray. The dots on the leaves don't seem to be a problem in that it would hurt your plant. In the ground it seems to go away. The white powder could be a few things but the same spray you would use for the dots you could use on the white powder. I like the Neem Oil as it does not wash off for longer protection and does not kill anything, just alters the taste so the bugs go else where. Other insecticidal sprays kill everything and wash off from rain or sprinklers.
