QuestionI am in southern California. I have a Baers lime tree in a big pot. It has produced fruit for four years, but this year, the new leaves are curling and are covered with what looks like peeling, clear, thin plastic. The older leaves are not affected, but all new growth is this way. Additionally, there has been no fruit since these leaves cam out. I do not see any insects on the tree, other than an occasional spider web. I HAVE been watering the tree more (maybe too much?), and we have noticed a lot of dead bees in our neighborhood. Any thoughts?
AnswerHi Suzanne, the leaf curling is from the leaf minor which will go to sleep as the weather cools off and then the new leaves will look great again. I do not do anything for the leaf minor and I have nice fruit. You should be giving your tree at least 3 inches of water a week to make it want to bloom. The dead bees is a totally different problem, has nothing to do with your citrus. Other things will pollinate your flowers.
