dying leyandii hedge

Question
OUR LEYANDII HEDGE HAS GONE BROWN AND LOOKS DEAD IN THE MIDDLE.  IT IS ABOUT 8FT TALL AND 20FT LONG.  WILL IT CONTINUE TO LOOK DEAD AND BROWN OR WILL IT EVENTUALLY COME BACK TO BEING GREEN OR WILL THE DEAD BROWN LOOK SPREAD FURTHER?

Answer
More than likely it will not come back. Sounds like a foliage disease. Leyland cypress are being infected with several foliage problems and they can kill the tree. Conifers once the foliage has died on a limb will not leaf out again on that limb. Sorry sounds like you may have to replace these trees. I would suggest if you do replace with maybe green giant thujas not leylands. Here is a web link to more information on Leyland and their foliage diseases.
