QuestionI have just remarried and moved from CA to Nevada. My husband has neglected two very large (maybe old) Mulberry trees. I have started some deep (drip) watering round the perimeters for 45 min. three times a week...the foliage is coming back, nice and lush, but the bark is still peeling off of the one tree and the branches that are (dead?) are still barren on the top of both. The second tree has much more growth and no bark peeling. Can I save these trees?
AnswerHi Laurie... Mulberry trees are the toughest plants I have ever seen. Cut off all that is dead and it will send out new branches. We have cut down a 15 ft tree to 3 feet and it is back up and probably past the 15 ft now. So cut away the dead and the watering will help for sure. You can probably cut back to once a week once they look good again.
