QuestionI have many maple trees & Ive noticed that two of them are losing all their leaves while still green. Some of the leaves are completely green others have dried out & turned light brown. Do you know if this is fatal? Should these trees be cut down?
Thank you,
Andrew
AnswerHi there.there are many stress related tree problems. One of which could be drought related. The first and only obvious indication that
drought is affecting trees and shrubs is that leaves and needles begin
to lose their normal, healthy shades of green during the summer and early fall.Severely stressed trees have leaves that start changing colors in August. On other deciduous trees, such as maples, oaks and poplars, instead of changing colors, the leaves are wilt, curl, turn brown and drop as they normally would in the fall.
There are many fungal problems that enter stressed trees. You may want to hire a reputable Certified arborist if these trees are valuable to you. Hope this helps some,Bill
