transplant shock-redbud

Question
I recently planted a clump redbud from a container,  It has been almost three weeks and it looks awful, after reading many postings I am convinced it is suffering transplant shock--color sucked out of leaves, almost looks like red blood on leaves, leaves falling off tree.  Is it too late to salvage, I have a soaking hose in the bedding area but have not overwatered. Can a do anything to bring it back, Can a tree that has suffered transplant shock come back healthy next year (I'm sure the answer is no but I had to ask)  Thanks for your help, Adrienne

Answer
You do not need to do anything except keep it watered even with no leaves.  The tree will let you know if it has survived next spring.  You can check for living tissue by scratching the bark and observing the tissue underneath.  If it is green or white, it is alive.  If it is brown it is dead.  Anything with living tissue has a chance to come back next year.  Anything brown is history.  I hope this helps you make a decision.  Thanks.
