QuestionI purchased this tree 2 years ago. I potted it like the instructions advised and had 2 lemons last year. Since I am in NJ, I bring it in for the winter. This last winter, I noticed that the leaves had a clear residue on them and all the flowers that started fell off. Spring came soon after so I figured once I put it outside it would bounce back. Well the whole summer has gone by without a single flower and the leaves are all smallish and curling. They have some small black dots on the leaves but they aren't bugs. I don't see any insects on the tree. What should I do to make it healthy again?
AnswerHi Carol, I would get an insecticidal spray like Pure Neem Oil and spray your plant, if you did not fertilize get a slow release fertilizer for your tree. Something with a higher last number for fruit and blooms. Meyer lemons are everbearing so new blooms should appear. If it is still in the same container it may need to be moved to a larger one. If outside in the sun it may need to get water everyday if still in the same container. If you use Neem Oil you spray the flowers too as it is also a fungicide to help if a fungus got into the blooms and it will also help set more fruit.
