QuestionFor the last couple of years, I have sprayed my peach trees
when dormant, budding and blooming but when the fruit gets
on and ripen, the peach has brown around the seed and I have
seen some worms but the ones that are not affected are sour
and can't be eaten. Can you identify the problem?
AnswerThe brown around the pit is normal for peaches. Worms have to be controlled all the way from fruit set to harvest with an insecticide. Your garden center has products to use for season long insect and disease control. You will have to treat the tree with this product no matter what you see or dont see in order to have good peach fruit. The sour fruit is another story. I am not sure what is going on here. There may be some bacterial pathogen in the fruit causing this. The garden center product should help with this as well. Good Luck.
