QuestionI HAVE A MEYER LEMON TREE WITH A FRUIT PROBLEM. THE FRUIT HAS SMALL HOLES IN THE SKIN. AS THE HOLES BECOME MORE NUMEROUS THE PITH TURNS BLACK AND MOLDY. LAST YEAR WE HAD A SEVERE WHITE FLY PROBLEM AND HAD A PROFESSIONAL TREE SERVICE SPRAY THEM. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO NOW?
AnswerThe problem you describe is not whiteflies, but can be caused by several factors. Sounds like there is an insect involved with the holes in the fruit. The fact that the fruit is moldy on the inside, is not a good sign. I am kinda at a loss as to the actual cause. Cut some of the fruit open and see if there are seeds inside. The fruit may not be getting pollinated properly which could also cause the rotting. If you see no sign or evidence of insect, I can suggest no specific control or preocedure for you to take. If you would like, you can send a picture or two to
