QuestionHi- I have a climbing black eyed susan plant that was doing pretty good. Has
climbed about five feet. Suddenly it has yellow spots all over the green leaves.
How can I fix this? Also, it had a few flowers, but not many. Is there anything I
can do to help it flower? I live in zone 6 if that is helpful
AnswerThe plant may be suffering from a bacterial leaf spot. I would treat the plant with a product called Hi-Yield Copper Fungicide/Bactericide according to label instructions for flowering plants. The product also has activity against fungi if it happens to be a fungal leaf spot. You may try fertilizing the plant with Miracle Gro Super Bloom about once per week as a foliar application. This has the nutrients specifically designed to induce flowers. Good Luck.
