QuestionI have 2 single quaking aspens and a group of 3. The smallest single tree has dried leaves that have black blotches on them. It has not been wet or cool in my area - just the opposite with the fires and dry hot weather - Could this be fungus?
AnswerAspens are susceptible to several fungal leaf spots and from your description I would say this is a good possibility, even with the dry weather. I would treat the trees with Daconil fungicide mixed according to label instructions for ornamentals. You probably should treat again in 7-10 days. Then I would sit back and see if the spots move onto any existing healthy or new growth. If it does, treat once again before fall comes. I hope this helps. Good Luck.
