QuestionWhat kind of insect control can i use for what looks like scale on the bark? Also when the scale is taken off it has what looks like a bug was in it!Also doesn't these trees get spider mites easy? Please let me know!
AnswerI would suspect scale moreso than spider mites. They do not move when feeding and also leave behind a skeleton that looks like a live bug. They will be dry when dead. I would treat the plant with Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insecticide. This product is mixed with water and poured on the soil around the base of the plant. It is taken up systemically and will kill the bugs within a week or so. It also provides protection from reinfestation for up to a year. I hope this helps solve the problem. Good Luck.
